Dean Quinn is barely gratuated from Central Saint Martins BA, but has already got quite some publicity on the internet. His graduation collection is inspired by the film Blade Runner; film noir-esque lighting never seems to bore him, and sportswear; the lines folowing the body in olympic garments. The outcome is a very professional and refined looking collection which easily could be expanded into more garments. Even though the pieces are very wearable they are everything but boring.

A well-dressed man wears Millhouse. It's as simple as that. Right up there with John Varvatos & Oswald Boateng in terms of silhouette, detailing and tailoring, the Millhouse Clothing Company is where the nattily-outfitted man shops - period.

Presenting the some of the best Caribbean's menswear collections since 1997, the husband-and-wife team of Gregory & Coline Mills are set to release their S/S 2010 Resort Collection this Saturday; read on for more:

November 25, 2009. Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago: Millhouse Clothing, the Caribbean’s premier menswear label, will unveil ‘Tee Marie,’ the Spring/Summer 2010 Resort collection at ‘An Entrepreneurial Symposium Style T& T’ hosted by Senator The Honourable Hazel Manning, for the spouses of the 52 common wealth dignitaries, attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) on Saturday November 28, 2009, at the Diplomatic Centre, St. Ann’s at 10:30am. The symposium is a part of CHOGM’s spouses’ programme.
The ‘Tee Marie’ collection was inspired by the indigenous flora of Trinidad and Tobago. Tee Marie is a wild vine that sprouts a small lavender flower. It is a popular, unassuming, unruly but most beloved plant in the Caribbean, which folds shut when touched.
“We chose Tee Marie as we wanted to go 'green', create a more natural, eco friendly and inexpensive collection. We also wanted to add a little texture to our design repertoire,” said designer, Coline Mills.
The Tee Marie collection has lot of texture, with natural fibres like cotton linen. White, which is the staple of the summer season, is the predominant colour in the collection. Hand paintings, lavender stencilled designs of the plant, brown and lime greens are captured in the detail of the garments.
The look is more relaxed. A more engineered cut, was used for the trousers, with splices of fabric at the side seams or folded onto itself, cut at the ankles, with rounded hemline in some instances. The blazers are tapered and clean, shirts are stencilled or hand painted and given a unique fresh look. And for the first time the brand has introduced a limited edition of comfortable canvassed sneakers to complete the look.

Stylistic TWINS: Coco and Breezy.

Meet Coco & Breezy.

The 19 year-old twin couture eye wear designers (& models) are steadily making a name for themselves in the fashion game. Recently moving to NYC to pursue their dream full time, the sisters hand make all their eye wear and hustle them to various people themselves.

With celebrities like: Ashanti, Kelly Osbourne, Amber Rose, and more rocking‘Gemela Amor by Coco & Breezy’, they are definitely going to be the ones to look out for in 2010.

The Twins:

  • What are your names and where are you from?
Our real names are Corianna and Brianna. But we have been called Coco and Breezy every since we were little. I actually have no idea how our mom came up with those nicknames, but I have not herd her call us by our real names in a long time, everyone jus calls us by “ Coco and Breezy” And when people say our name, they don’t jus say “coco”.. they don’t just say “breezy”, its always COCO & BREEZY..Together. Our image is that we are always together, never separated, we worked the same jobs, and when we were in high school we even had the same classes. We were born in Indiana, but we were raised in Minneapolis, MN.

  • What do you do?

We have a lot of different talents, and we don’t let them go to waste. It all started when we were younger, we been dancing all of our life. We started doing big shows, opening up for concerts, dancing/choreographing for different artist when we were 14 yrs old. We have opened up concert here in Minnesota such as, b5, jagged edge, hurricane chris, and etc. Dancing was the first thing that got our name out there and popular. We then decided to put our dancing career on hold and start modeling at the age of 17. We have done pretty much all of the big runway shows in Minnesota, and have done some cool photo shoots. We are freelance models, which means we are not signed with an agency right now. But when we move to NYC or Cali we plan to get with an agency. Another talent we have is fashion!!! We are stylist as well, we don’t just go with the trend, we are trendsetters, and also Another talent that we are starting to use and work on is designing. We decided we know we have our own style, and people always want to know where we get our clothes from, so why not just design a unique line.

  • What inspired you to pursue a career in the fashion industry?

We have always been into fashion ever since we were little girls. We weren’t normal girls that played “house” with there Barbie, we made clothes and played fashion show with our Barbie, and toys. Fashion isn’t just a career to us, it’s a passion and lifestyle. Being models, stylist, and designers, we are triple threats in the fashion industry, and doing what ever it takes.

  • Is this how you typically dress?

Breezy: Yeah. Even if I go to the grocery store, I don’t try to be dressed up, but we’re the image that people know—Coco and Breezy always being together and having unique style.
Coco: I can’t get caught slipping without my style.

  • What inspires your style?

We have a lot of different inspiration for our style, but the main one is art. We treat the way we get dressed like it’s a piece of art. We show that it is ok to be different and unique. Dressing different and having a different style in Minnesota takes a lot of confidence. We used to get a lot of stares and points, and we used to think they were bad stares and points. A couple months later, we see everyone dressing like us. We don’t mind when people “attempt” to dress like us, because we are trendsetters. Since we have each other we don’t care what people think. Another inspiration of our fashion is fashion from places like Europe, and Japan. They get fashion way before America, so we check out different look books online to get inspirations and ideas.

The Shades: Gemela Amor by Coco & Breezy

1. When was the company started? Why did you start it?

The line was started about 6 months ago when we were 18 years old. We actually showed our 1st line of clothing and we designed the glasses just to add a “POP!” to the garments. The Glasses ended up being the hit! We designed what we call “custom couture eye wear” and started the brand ourselves, with no PR, or any type of management.

2. You ladies recently moved to NYC to pursue this dream? Where are you originally from?

We are originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota which is in the Midwest (where there is really no fashion outlets) and people looked at us crazy or pointed and laughed at us because of our style. We have been traveling back and forth to NYC for a couple years now and we always just went to visit from 2-4 days at a time. But our last visit in NYC was a life changing experience for us. We met so many people, our brand got press, we had a couple red carpet appearances, we did photo shoots, and stylists pulled our eye wear for a few online mags.

Back in August, we went back home and told our parents “we’re moving to NYC in 2 weeks”. We were nervous about quitting our regular job but it was time to take the risk and just have 100 percent focus on our brand. We’re young and moving to NYC (last minute) to pursue our dream was a big step. But we’d rather struggle and work hard on our brand in NYC, than live easy in non-fashion state.

3. Can you elaborate on the message behind Coco & Breezy?

We have a special bond that no one else has, which we believe gives us an advantage for being a great design
team. Just being twins, we have never been separated from each other for more than 24hours. Also something that makes us different from other designers is that we are models for our line as well. We definitely known for our different, edgy and unique look and we are never seen in public without rocking shades.

4. You already have celebs like Ashanti, Vanessa Simmons, and Kelly Osbourne rocking your shades? How did that come about?

Well with Ashanti wearing our glasses, it was really last minute and we didn’t plan for her to wear them. It’s funny because, we were contacting different stylist that we met during our visit just to inform them that we were back to NYC for good. And that same day someone contacted us and asked if they could pull a couple styles for Ashanti for the red carpet VH1 hip hop honors. And we were like “sure.’ It was cool because we got a lot of press from it, and was our first major celeb press.

5. Who is the ideal ‘Coco & Breezy’ customer?

They are unisex for men & women. An ideal ‘Coco & Breezy’ customer is somebody that is not scared to step out the box and have the confidence to rock the glasses. If there is 100 people in the room, they are going to be the ones standing out, and will always be remembered.

6. Where do you ladies see yourself in the future?

In the future we see our line expanding and doing clothes as well. I feel like right now how fashion is the younger generation is taking over, and our generation is going to be the next big names in fashion. Since we are starting at such a young age, we are going to remain dedicated and never get to comfortable at what people call “the top” there is no such thing as the top. We are going to grind and work hard so we can be young and successful. We also want to be an inspiration to younger kids showing you can do anything, it just takes hard work. This is only the beginning of our journey, there is a lot more to come.

Truly for the aspirational at heart, the shoe features an array of luxe materials. The dark grey Melton wool & black suede upper is reminiscent of fabrics used on premium varsity jackets while the black and white gingham lining counter-balances the darkness of the shoe. Giving it the sense of luxury found in tailored suits and handcrafted luggage, pinstripes were also added to the upper. A butter soft leather heel and embossed leather patches on the tongue further compliment the refined aesthetic. To lighten up the design, a pop of color was incorporated through the use of pink-waxed laces. Hand sewn elements and purple stitching found on the heel mimic the construction of apparel and provides the perfect finishing touch to tie it all together.

"Fashion/marketing/PR expert Kari Cruz orchestrated the entire project. Her expertise in the fashion/streetwear market gave this project even more authenticity adding to the design."

The color story was heavily inspired by escape & travel. The sentiment here is a "Miami Sunset." Do you see any similarities?

LOUISE GOLDIN for TOPSHOP.

Although Gemma Ward's agent recently said she was done with modeling, sparking speculation that her retirement had to do with her less model-esque weight of late, Gemma says she's not through with the biz. In fact, she intends to become a double slash:
"I have not 'quit modelling' and my fans back home can expect to see me back at work modelling and acting in the new year," she said in an email to The West Australian.

That's model-slash-actress-slash-student — an unbeatable slash combination for a 22-year-old. Her mom spoke to the paper as well.
"She's 22 years old and has worked incredibly hard," Mrs Ward said. "She's had a very difficult few years personally and now she's having a really lovely time doing things she wants to do and enjoying being young.

Momma Ward added that Gemma is considering a three-year Shakespearean acting course at Yale. Don't forget that Ward earned an Australian acting-award nomination for her role in The Black Balloon. In her down time, she also traveled to Rio de Janeiro to check out the slums "with a view to doing something there in the future," says mom. Make money, travel, better yourself, make more money, go to Yale, better the world — she's living the life.

Meiling 2010 collection "The Secret Life Of Plants" will be presented at Hilton Trinidad today at 7pm.

A study on 'The Secret Life of Plants,' the set will feature classic Meiling silhouettes, re-imagined with wilting, withering blooms in mind. According to the designer, her inspiration came from the, "subtle and fragile changes which emerge with the pressing and aging of cherished flowers and plants." Very earthy and organic, the colour palette ranges from muted burgundies and mossy greens, to rosy pinks and and faded nudes.

The style of each piece of clothing is also a study of the signature Meiling look married with the beauty of the withering ’perfection’ of drying flowers.

The collection includes jackets and skirts in rich cottons and raw silks, with sharp clean tailoring and surprising ethereal details of raw edges and cotton netting. It also features ultra feminine dresses in soft flowing silks, which possess both a contemporary and vintage feel.

Meiling 2010 is a collection destined to become a classic, ageless collection, which, like an exquisite flower, will be treasured for a long time.

The show will also feature a collection of menswear by Anthony Reid and textile artist Lisa Sargeant has provided some of the organically dyed materials for the collection.

The production team is coordinated by Riddums Productions with participation by Charisse Parsons, Alyson Brown, Wendell Manwarren, Roger Roberts, Anthony Medina and Rhian Vialva.

So be part of the experience at the Ballroom of the Hilton Trinidad today, Tuesday 17 November 2009 from 7 p.m. After-show cocktails and wine offered by Vintage Imports. Tickets are a vailable from Meiling’s shop at the Kapok Hotel, phone: 628 6205.

Model News: Gemma Ward Quits Modelling.

It has been confirmed by her agent....Gemma has indeed quit the modelling industry.
Its a bit sad because, Gemma  is one of my all time favorite models. She has largely been absent from the fashion scene following the death of Heath Ledger, to whom she was romantically tied and has come under fire for gaining weight.

Ever since the news with the release of her birthday pictures, Gemma has been getting attacks from bloggers and most if not, all aspects of the fashion industry...just because of her present shape. I have always been a supporter of healthy models and now that she has been enjoying some food so to speak....Gemma is being label as Fat, Plus Size and Obesity, just to name a few.

This is the world be live in....and....it will be a good one when people grow the ^%&k UP!!!

Seen here celebrating her birthday with close friends.

These 4 new designs for their 2009 Summer collection all feature bold geometric designs inspired by the simplistic shape of a triangle.

The String Theory (in Black & White), Hyperspace and Sky Pyramid are all bold in every way and are a fantastic addition to your summer outfit. As with most of their watches, they are made of a light-weight aluminum case and a soft, polyurethane band.

The entire collection is now up on Nooka.com and should hit stores soon.

New Parisian label Hype Means Nothing, racking up several collabs in its very short lifespan. Although not usually a fan of portrait tee’s, there’s something about the artistic merit of these photographs with a little fun and style.

HMN’s first collection of tee’s pokes a little fun at the expense of celebrities by featuring their printed faces in black and white (for the most part) pretending to wear “fashionable sunglasses”. They’ve even got an M.J. version.

You can check out the official site or endclothing.

!!!Major Cool!!!

Vestal is going 8-bit with their latest watch, the Digichord. Complementing the simple design are the dual digital readouts which can be individually backlit. Most impressive is the ultra-thin profile that is almost as thin as the watch strap.

highsnobiety

For fall, Belgian designer Kris Van Assche has released another collection of creative sneakers. Intricate super-high tops with velcro details and side closures in the usual minimalist palette of black and white define the release. Materials include premium leather and suede uppers.
Made in Italy.
Now available at Forward.

I HEART.

Paris has attracted recently so many great designers and one of them is Vincent Schoepfer. I love the simplicity with stile, and with his winter collection he has just achieved that. What i particularly love about it is a variety, just enough to let everyone express their personality.

The importance of formal attire is played down with concealed buttons and a new take on the bow-tie. The way to go.

THREE WORDS: I NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!

I love this concept.
As Mr. Stasinopoulos explains, “The purpose of mechanical watches is not just to display the time. They are, and ought to be, the showcase of human achievements in the fields of engineering, aesthetics and of course craftsmanship – just to mention a few. It is essential for mechanical watches through their form and functions to reflect these values and therefore to be the mediums to push the limits and discover new territories of creation and technological advancement.”
